These links provide access to key resources that the Library provides for all Health Faculty members.  There are lists of resources for individual health subjects as well, e.g. Medicine, Pharmacy and so on which contain resources for specific subject areas.

These pages are also intended for students from other Schools looking for health-related information.

Healthcare Databases: evidence-based reviews

Cochrane Library (this is freely available - via National Library for Health)

Database of systematic reviews and other evidence-based material aimed at informing healthcare research, teaching, funding, and administration

Full-text is available for Cochrane reviews only. Use the e-journals search to find full-text for other material you'll find on the Cochrane Library ('Other reviews', Clinical Trials and so on)

  • MEDLINE: Nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, medical education, pre-clinical sciences, and more – contains tens of millions of references.

Science Direct

  • Access to about 1800 full-text articles across technical, and social sciences from the publisher Elsevier
  • Abstracts from other publishers across the major scientific disciplines

(3) JSTOR: Access to a small number of health sciences journals, generally the earlier issues.  The collection covers a range of other subjects

Use the Library Catalogue to search for individual titles held by the Library. Search by keyword, title, author/title.

Ebooks : a number of health titles are available

Dawsonera: growing collection of ebooks for core reading list material.  You’ll find all titles from Dawsonera in the Library Catalogue

MyiLibrary: You’ll also find all titles from MyiLibrary in the Library Catalogue

EBSCO ebook collection: You’ll find some of the titles in the Library Catalogue.

NCBI Bookshelf: Freely available biomedical books from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (USA)

You may also like to look at Google Books. Whilst this does not provide access to the full text of many books, you can access limited previews for some titles.
