BA (Birmingham), MA. (Oxon), M.A. (Keele),, Solicitor (uncertified).

Mark grew up in Birmingham before studying law at Oxford.  After a year at the College of Law he joined a large commercial firm of solicitors back in Birmingham as an articled clerk.  He qualified as a solicitor in 1990, specializing in commercial property law.  In 1995 Mark left private practice, and since then has taught law part-time at Keele.  He also taught at Aston University for a number of years.

Mark has a reputation for taking an innovative and sometimes dramatic approach to his teaching. He has also been keen to explore and use electronic resources in teaching, both at Keele and more widely. Mark is responsible for the Land Law volume in Palgrave Macmillan’s Law Masters Series.

He received a Keele Individual Award for Excellence in Learning and Teaching in 2007 and in 2013 and in 2005/6, he was short listed for the Association of Law Teachers’ Law Teacher of the Year.

Mark’s main teaching interests are in the land law of England and Wales.  He is happy to supervise dissertations in these areas.
