Dr. Ruth Fletcher speaks to Irish Parliament on Abortion Law
Dr. Ruth Fletcher spoke before the Irish Parliament's Joint Committee on Health and Children on the 21st May 2013. She gave a submission on proposed legislation regarding Irish abortion law. Although the Irish Constitution protects the right to life of the unborn child, it does so with due regard to the equal right to life of the mother. This has been interpreted by the Irish courts to imply a right to abortion in limited circumstances. The proposed legislation, which follows on from some high profile ECtHR cases on this matter, seeks to specify those circumstances.

Dr. Fletcher also spoke on Irish national radio about this issue. Her interview can be found here.
