Bethan Casinelli
My name is Bethan Casinelli and I studied Law at Keele University between 2008 and 2011. I am due to commence the Legal Practice Course in September 2011.
Originally my decision to go to Keele was based on its well respected course, the ethos promoted within the Law School and the accommodation available on campus - but there is much more to Keele than just that! Professional networking is encouraged by the law school and the Law and Bar societies. Keele also provides careers advice and opportunities designed specifically with law students in mind, as well as more general advice. I would recommend both to any student.
I would really recommend getting involved in the extra-curricular aspects of your Law degree. Not only are they great fun and teach you lots about the practical applications of law, but they also look great on your CV. I really enjoyed mooting. In 2010 my team won the Keele University Mooting Competition and in 2011 we represented Keele at a national level in the OUP/BPP Mooting Competition surpassing previous Keele records. My team also won the 2011 Client Interviewing competition at Keele, which has taught me a lot about interpersonal communication. I would also recommend engaging with the course by becoming involved in committees such as the Staff/Student Liaison Committee, for which I was a third year representative and took the role of Chairperson.
Law at Keele is dynamic and engaging. I have absolutely loved my time studying and living at Keele and would recommend it to anyone.
