Overview

This course aims to provide teachers who are new to science subject leadership with guidance on the role they have just undertaken. From appraising and improving their own classroom practice to gaining a greater understanding of the key components involved in subject leadership. A gentle hand to guide you through the early stages if subject leadership is guaranteed.

Teachers will leave with a CDROM of   resources to use in their new role

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify ways to develop their own classroom practice in science
  • Understand the key elements involved in subject leadership including aspects such as leading science through monitoring and evaluation, Ofsted criteria for successful science lessons, science enquiry and assessment as well as a guide to resourcing this highly practical subject.
  • Identify and plan changes to the science curriculum for 2014 and beyond
