Overview

This course is aimed at providing established subject leaders with the expertise to take the lead in the teaching and learning of science throughout the school and beyond. Key elements of achieving outstanding lessons as well as developing the subject beyond the classroom will be included in the day. Ofsted criteria, curriculum issues, assessment and the highly practical nature of this subject will also be addressed throughout the day.

Teachers will leave with a CDROM of resources to update their science subject leader role

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify ways to develop outstanding lessons in science
  • Understand how  monitoring and evaluation techniques can be used to improve children’s learning in science
  • Identify areas to extend the learning of science beyond the classroom
  • Design the curriculum to encompass excellence in science for all pupils
