Overview
This course is most effective when the teachers and technicians involved in their school/college’s microbiology attend together.
The course assumes participants are familiar with carrying out the aseptic technique required to deliver school microbiology safely*.
Why come on this course?
-
To support the delivery of the BTEC(III) Applied Science (Module 15) Microbiology option.
-
If your students need to carry out practical projects to find out about microbes for:-
-
- GCSE (Controlled Assessment Units)
-
- A level individual investigations
- - International Baccalaureate project work
- A reminder of the health and safety guidance needed to ensure compliance with COSHH.
- The techniques included in the BTEC (III) that are additional to standard school microbiology.
- The techniques needed to identify and quantify individual species of microbe or virus, so that Investigative work can be carried out.
- Ideas for a range of safe and feasible microbiology practicals that are genuine enquiries.
*If you are not confident with these aspects we suggest that you attend the “Supporting safe practical microbiology” course before attending this one.Dates and venue
