StARS (Student Academic Representatives)

The Student Academic Representative system exists to provide a link between the Students’ Union and each academic department providing student feedback, communicating events, and improving each year on our National Student Survey results.

Every year, at least two StARs for each programme of study are elected by fellow students to provide representation at Staff Student Liaison Committees (SSLC's) and with KUSU.

This means that on a yearly basis there are over 300 StARs at Keele making sure that your views are heard and that you have as much say as possible regarding your academic life here at Keele.

This year has seen StARs rewarded for their efforts with the opportunity to receive a Voluntary Experience (VE) Award and an awards ceremony to recognise exceptional performance. Award winners include our own second year Business Management representative, Alyson Bird and our ‘Bright’ StAR Luke Clarke (Accounting and Finance).

Besides providing the opportunity to make the student voice heard, as a StAR you will also benefit by:

  • Enhancing your employability
  • Representing your peers
  • Improving your course
  • Having a voice

Training is provided to ensure that you are equipped with the knowledge and tools required to do a good job. If you are interested in becoming a Keele Management School StAR, please contact your course administrator who will be happy to provide the necessary details.
