I studied philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford before working in the motor industry for a number of years. After studying for postgraduate degrees at London School of Economics and Warwick University, I worked in two polytechnics before coming to Keele in 1988.

My main research interests are motor industry industrial relations and labour history, and I am joint Editor of Historical Studies in Industrial Relations.
