Become a Keele Mentor
Do you remember what it was like when you received your offer to come to Keele? What about when you arrived and moved into your accommodation? Or when you went to your first lecture? Or went out with your new friends for the first time?
You may have been really excited, you may have been a little daunted, you may have been a bit of both. Regardless of this you have been there and done it; you potentially have the Carnage T-Shirt – if so we want you to support us to make the experience of our new students an excellent one.
A Keele we now have, Keele Mentors, a Peer Mentoring Scheme in which current Keele students who know and love this University, Mentor incoming Undergraduate students who are keen to find out all about what Keele has to offer.
Being a Keele Mentor is a fantastic way for you to welcome new students to the University.
As a Keele Mentor your role would be to welcome and support new students as they make the transition to life as a Keele student.
By sharing your own experiences and listening to your mentees' concerns you can help to make their start here a great one. As a Keele Mentor, you will make the biggest difference, whilst making new friends and developing transferable skills.
As you're already a student at Keele, you've been there and done it. You have experienced the campus, know your way around the Library, Students' Union and the Sports Centre and know the best places to eat and drink.
By signing up to be a Keele Mentor you could be the difference between a new student having a good year and a great year.
We have had great feedback about this scheme from both mentors and mentees and from 2013/14 we will be offering the chance to have a Keele Mentor to all new undergraduate students. We will be recruiting and training new mentors in 2013/14. If you would like more information about Keele Mentors please email mentors@keele.ac.uk
If this is something that sounds up your street then sign up here.
