Holocaust Memorial Day Conference - 25th January
Our annual Holocaust Memorial Day Conference last Friday 25th January proved to be a truly inspirational day for learners and staff alike. Over 150 learners from 6 local schools attended the day and took part in a number of sessions to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day. Workshops were provided by the Holocaust Education Trust (HET) and Keele Academic, Dr. Jane Essex, who conducted a theatrical lecture on ‘Scientists of the Holocaust’.
The highlight of the event was when students had the opportunity to hear from Holocaust survivor, Susan Pollack, who gave a touching and inspirational talk about her experiences of the Holocaust as a survivor of Auschwitz. Learners particularly benefited from the opportunity to hear Susan speak- “I am glad to have come and listened to Susan's story. It is Life changing and made me realise how lucky I am”.
The day was greatly enjoyed by everyone in attendance, learners, teachers and Keele Students and staff. One learner said “I am so glad I have had this opportunity to learn more about the Holocaust. Thank you Keele University!”
