  1. Keep a money diary and plan your expenses as soon as you get your student loan.
  2. Put most of your student loan in a high interest savings account – ISA’s are good.
  3. Shop around when looking for a student bank account as some offer free items i.e. railcard.
  4. Make a meal plan for the week so that you don’t have to end up throwing a lot of food away.
  5. Take a packed lunch to save you eating out.
  6. Buy food in bulk and share food with friends.
  7. Invest in a thermos and cafetiere and take your own tea/coffee

Keelelink-in-the-News90x90 Keele Scholarships and Bursaries

We have a range of scholarships and bursaries for students who wish to study at Keele. Look at our webpages for further information: www.keele.ac.uk/studentfunding

This is one Scholarship we have available (there are others, some dependent on your household income):

The Excellence Scholarship: For those coming to Keele this September, we have the Keele Excellence Scholarship. If you attain 3 A grades at A level, we will award you a Scholarship of £2000 a year for each year of your course at Keele (up to a maximum of four years). If you attain AAB, the award is £1,000 a year and for ABB it is £500 a year. We look at your three best grades, not tariff points. This award is not available to students taking undergraduate medicine or courses that attract funding from the Department of Health or the NHS.

For qualifications other than A levels, we have a list of equivalent qualifications that we will accept for the Excellence Scholarships. If you can’t see it on the webpages or would like further details, email bursaries@keele.ac.uk and ask for a copy or speak to an advisor.
