IT Facilities For Teaching/Training With PCs

IT Services has six PC Labs in rooms that can be booked by staff for teaching/training sessions.

A nominal charge is made for the use of these facilities for normal University activities* as shown below.  Bookings start and finish on the hour and the minimum booking period is one hour.  All labs have projectors and screens.  Laptops can also be used.  A set of audio speakers for the course presenter are also available to loan from the IT Service Desk if required.

For a full description of each of the rooms, including the projection facilities and the software that is available on the PCs - click on the room numbers in the table below or use the links on the left.

* 'Normal University activities' are teaching and training courses run for members of the University, and other academic events for which no charge is made. Any event for which participants are charged a fee, or that is part of an event for which participants are charged a fee, is classed as commercial, and a commercial rate for hiring the room is applicable. Details are available on application from IT Services.

** Rooms 1 and 2 are separated by a partition that may be retracted if you book both rooms. However, the projection facilities are not ideal for use in the combined space. Users of the 16 PCs nearest the screen in Room 1 should have an adequate view, but although most of the users of the other 14 PCs will be able to see the screen, they will not be close enough to see details.

***Adjacent to rooms 5 and 6 is a cluster of 18 PCs (designated Room 7) that are normally on open access. You cannot book this cluster separately, but if you are booking rooms 5 and 6 together, you may also book this cluster - specify rooms 5, 6 and 7. The charge for all three rooms is £30 per hour.
