I obtained my BSc, MSc and PhD degrees at the Queen’s University of Belfast. I have worked in industry (for Unilever Research) and held a number of academic posts including, most recently, Head of Pharmaceutics at the Hertfordshire School of Pharmacy. I joined the Keele School of Pharmacy in January 2010 and am responsible for aspects of pharmaceutics within the School.
My main research interests are in percutaneous absorption, particularly in the development of quantitative models of skin absorption and in aspects related to language / resource development in teaching and learning. Most recently, I have - at the invitation of the Karolinska Institute, Sweden - presented my research at the 1st International Conference on Modelling of Dermal Absorption, held September 2012 in Beijing, People's Republic of China. In November I was invited to speak at the Royal Society, London, at the first alumni event for the Royal Soceity MP-Scientist Pairing Scheme, which I participated in last year.
