Dr Isaac Liu

My main research interest is to build a new interdisciplinary field of nano-bioengineering bridging biomaterials, biomechanics, nanotechnology, microfabrication, and medicine.

I have experience in nanomechanics and nanomanipulation of soft biological materials with unique emphases on the applications in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, built up through academic and industrial experience in several British and overseas universities, and private companies.

In 2003 I became a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical & Cell Engineering at Keele University's Research Institute for Science & Technology in Medicine (ISTM) and was then promoted to Reader. I previously held the position of Associate Professor (1998-2003) in the Mechanical and Production School of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Most recently I have been elected as a member of the UK Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) peer review college (2006-2010) and a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.

In 2009 I took up a new position of Reader (Associate Professor) at Warwick University together with an honorary Visiting Reader role at Keele to continue my research collaboration with colleagues in ISTM.

ISTM research theme: 1. Bioengineering & Therapeutics
