ISTM Research themes: 1. Infection, Inflamation & Immunity
2. Clinical & Diagnostic Science
Research Interests:
Dr Voisey (nee Allen) moved to Keele in August 2006. Her research interests lie in immunity, especially autoimmunity and inflammatory disease. From previous research work conducted at Liverpool University she has an interest in early life immunology and potential for skewing of the immune response in health and disease.
Dr Voisey aims to investigate the state of the immune response in health and disease during pregnancy, and to evaluate whether the skewing of the immune system during pregnancy itself may account for certain clinical findings in women suffering from Ulcerative colitis (UC), Crohns Disease (CD), and Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and to investigate whether there is the potential for the immune response of the neonate to be programmed towards a disease phenotype in these patients.
