Lecture on Biomedical Engineering by Dr Ed Chadwick
Dr Edward Chadwick, newly appointed ISTM Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering gave a first lecture to colleagues to introduce his research at the Guy Hilton Research Centre on 23 November.
The subject was "Model-based development of neuroprostheses for restoring functional movement to the upper limb", outlining his research background in mechanical and biomedical engineering, and his research interests in the application of biomechanical modelling and simulation techniques to the study of upper limb function and rehabilitation. Ed has a particular interest in the use of functional electrical stimulation (FES) and talked about his research in the area of neuroprosthesis development for the restoration of upper limb function in stroke and other neuromuscular disorders.
