Introduction to Mass Spectrometry capabilities at Keele
Keele MS Facility website is at: www.keele.ac.uk/mass-spec/
Dr Elzbieta Piatkowska, newly appointed researcher in mass spectrometry, gave an introductory talk to ISTM members on the capabilities of the relocated Keele MS Facility this month. On 24 October Elzbieta outlined the new facilities to members based in Huxley Buiilding and other campus labs, and on 14 November she addressed members based at the Guy Hilton Research Centre.
Keele MS Facility has both MALDI and ESI platforms for comprehensive and rapid sample characterization and quantification, located in a dedicated lab in Huxely Building in the centre of Keele University campus. Its two state-of-the art mass spectrometers are a MALDI 4800 ToF/ToF and an ESI 3200-QTRAP (pictured), purchased and maintained using funds from the Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE) Science Research Infrastructure Fund (SRIF) and the Institute of Orthoaedics. Prices for using the Facility will be announced shortly and anyone interested is encouraged to contact Elzbieta or Dr Sarah Hart.
The Mass Spectrometry Facility website gives technical information on the capabilities of the equipment and now has a new, shorter web-page URL: www.keele.ac.uk/mass-spec/.
