The Research Institute has welcomed its new intake of research students in autumn 2012, studying for higher degrees of PhD, MPhil or DM.

ISTM's students are based in laboratories at Keele campus, the Guy Hilton Research Centre, and partner hospitals at University Hospital of North Staffordshire and RJ&AH Hospital at Oswestry. They are typically registered full-time at Keele for three years but there are part-time options which suit those who want to study alongside their current work in the NHS or industry. Their projects cover a wide range of research and skills, and the students themselves have diverse academic and clinical backgrounds.

Twenty of the new students are seen here attending the first lecture of their modularised year one training course on 7 November 2012, with ISTM Postgraduate Director Prof Trevor Greenhough (centre, back).
