Keele accepts students with school-leaving qualifications from all overseas countries for entry to undergraduate (bachelor) degree courses.  The actual grades you require in particular subjects will vary according to the degree course you wish to study.  You will also require an English language qualification. 

If you do not meet the requirements for entry to one of our degree courses you can apply for a place on our International Year 1 or Foundation Year.

If your first language is not English you must provide evidence of a recognised qualification in English Language, such as IELTS, TOEFL iB or PTE Academic.

Undergraduate English Language Requirements

Yr 1 entry: 6.0 overall, (with minimum of 5.5 in each subtest)

Yr 2 entry: 6.0 overall, (with minimum of 6.0 in reading and writing subtests)

Yr 3 direct entry: 6.0 (with minimum 6.0 in reading and writing subtests)

Direct Yr 3 entry students not meeting minimum entry requirements will be able to gain access via an appropriate pre-sessional course.

Yr 1 entry Law: 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in each subtest)

For students studying Medicine, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 is required.

For students entering the International Degree Programme the following is required: IELTS 5.5 (with subtests of 5.5).

 

Pre-Sessional English Language Programmes for Entry to Keele University

If you have taken one of the English language qualifications but did not achieve the grade you needed, you can study on a pre-sessional English Language course before you start your degree studies.  Keele has links with two language colleges: English in Chester and Walsall College.

If you require a Visa to study at Keele it will be issued by UKBA on the basis of you achieving the required language competencies by the end of the pre-sessional course, but could be withdrawn if you fail to make satisfactory progress.

The International Admissions team will help you apply for a pre-sessional course if you need this.

English Language Support

When you start your studies at Keele we will assess your English language standard so that we can recommend language modules for you to take in Year 1 as part of your degree course.  You do not pay any additional fees for these.  You can also speak to staff in the English Language Unit
