Student Profiles

American student The diverse nature of Keele attracted me along with the opportunity to meet with people from all over the World. What I love best about Keele is the community feel. When I walk around campus I always see people I know.

Scholarships

Tuition Fee Bursaries

All American postgraduate taught students will be eligible for a 10% bursary towards the overseas rate of tuition for the course for which they are applying. In addition, all students graduating from one of our 30 North American partners (see list below) will be eligible for a further 15% bursary. Finally, if a previous exchange student from one of the partner universities decides to come back to Keele for graduate study, they will be eligible for a 50% bursary. This means that for 2012/13 tuition could be approx. £5,100 - £5,900 (approx. US/CAN$ 8,100 - $9,400) for a returning exchange student.

NAFKU Scholarship

In addition, each year American postgraduate taught students will be able to compete for the NAFKU scholarship (North American Foundation Keele University). This will provide US$4,000 (approximately £2,500) towards living costs at Keele. Final Selection will be by members of the NAFKU Board. All North American students who are offered a place at Keele will automatically be sent an application form.

Please read the following profile of our 2011 NAFKU Scholar:

One Keele Marshall Scholarship, whereby Keele pays the tuition fees and the Marshall Commission the maintenance costs. Applications are via Marshall – see http://www.marshallscholarship.org/about/ Deadline for applications is likely October for entry the following September.  Applications must be endorsed by the President, Provost, or Academic Dean of the applicant's educational institution (or employer). The online application must be submitted and authorised by a designated member of staff at the applicant's educational institution (or employer). Students from the USA are eligible to apply for the Keele International Student Scholarship (KISS).

The undergraduate KISS is worth GBP2000 towards the cost of the annual tuition fees for the duration of the course.  Students studying a three-year degree can therefore save GBP6000 from the total cost of their degree studies.

The postgraduate KISS is worth GBP3000 towards the cost of tuition and will be deducted from the second instalment of tuition fees.

The Scholarships are awarded to students who can demonstrate excellence in at least two of the following areas:

* Academic qualifications,
* English Language ability,
* Understanding of the course and motivation to study at Keele,
* Extra-curricular or work experience
To apply for the KIS Scholarship you must have applied to Keele and been offered a place to study here.  You must then complete a separate application form (download
KISS Application Form) Applications must have been received and processed before the start of academic year for which the application is made.  KIS Scholarships cannot be awarded to students who have already started their degree at Keele.

* Please note that students studying the 5-year undergraduate degree in Medicine and the 4-year undergraduate degree in Pharmacy are not eligible for this award.
The decisions on Scholarships are made by the International Recruitment Team and their decision is final.
