About the Faculty

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is the largest and most complex Faculty in the University, with over 224 academic, teaching and research staff, 89 members of administrative and technical staff, 3,007 undergraduates and 1,322 postgraduates. The six Schools (Humanities; Keele Management School; Law; Public Policy and Professional Practice; Politics, International Relations and Philosophy; and Sociology and Criminology) have responsibility for the delivery and development of Undergraduate and Masters Programmes. 

The two Research Institutes (for the Humanities and the Social Sciences) have responsibility for generating and supporting research, knowledge transfer activities, hosting visiting academics, organising research seminars and conferences and for the training and supervision of research students.  The Language Learning Unit supports the whole University by providing, at a range of levels and in a variety of modes, tuition for undergraduate and postgraduate students in English (for non-native speakers) and modern languages.
