As the result of an intensive assessment that ran over two days, the Careers and Employability team have been judged to have met the Matrix standard for providing quality careers and employability services.  The standard which is awarded by EMQC, asks for evidence of good practice in five areas – Leadership and Management, Resources, Service Delivery and Continuous Quality Improvement.  The assessor collected evidence using a number of different methods.  He interviewed 16 students both as part of groups and as individuals asking about how we measure the impact the support we offer. The assessor also mentioned how enthusiastic and articulate the students that he saw were and was impressed by their willingness to offer a considered opinion. Enterprise Rent a Car and North Staffordshire Chamber of commerce were asked to provide evidence of our effective relationships with employers.  Internal partners were represented by Students’ Union, Employer Engagement and Enterprise Teams as well as Marketing and Communication and Curriculum Support and Development.   Four academic colleagues discussed how we work within schools in designing and delivering modules within the curriculum.  Every member of the Careers and Employability team was interviewed and even senior management were not excluded!

We were given feedback on our strengths at the end of the visit; the assessor highlighted particularly the strong, supportive and professional team and the blended model of delivery, allowing students to access a variety of services in a way that meets their needs.
