October – December 2012

1 October saw the official opening of the brand new £2.7M Nursery facility. Dr Maggie Atkinson, Children’s Commissioner for England was joined by around 50 guests including partners who had been instrumental in the delivery of the building, as well as parents, University colleagues and children. The building, which took 40 weeks to construct, offers a first-rate learning environment for the 128 children who attend and features an outdoor classroom at its centre in addition to well-equipped outdoor spaces from each of the classrooms. With an Ofsted rating of “Good”, a new logo and marketing plan, the future is bright for the University’s youngest learners!

November saw the launch of the staff self service system.  Developed by Human Resources and Management Information Systems (MIS), the web based application provides a quick and easy way for staff to keep their information up to date. No more filling in paper forms…… through the self service system you can make changes to personal information, contact details, next of kin details and equality and diversity information.

The system can be found at: http://hrselfserve.admin.keele.ac.uk/ and you’ll need your user name and password along with your national insurance (NI) number to log in.

More information, help and guidance can be found at: http://www.keele.ac.uk/hr/selfservice/

If you’ve not already logged in why not take a look today?

The deadline for completion of the new equality monitoring data is 22nd December 2012. The system will remain live after this date for ongoing changes to your information. The University is in the process of selecting and implementing an integrated HR/Payroll system and the data in the self service system will be transferred in due course.
