Dignity and Respect Framework

Dignity and Respect Framework

Dignity and respect are at the heart of the core values of the University. Keele is a diverse, inclusive and professional community that respects individual’s and enables them to strive for success in order to contribute positively and sustainably in the local region, wider society and national economy.

The purpose of the Dignity and Respect Framework is to translate these strategic commitments into everyday working practice at Keele. There is a need to define, in fairly flexible terms, what dignity and respect feels like and looks like. The Framework aims to promote positive relationships by helping to focus and interpret these mutual expectations within a complex and diverse organisation.

In conceiving the Framework, four broad themes have been derived from the strategic Equality and Diversity commitments:

  • Leadership and Management
  • Collaborative working with students
  • Learning and development
  • Culture and community

Further details of each of these areas can be found here.

In light of these themes we would like to capture the views and comments of staff on the following questions:

  • What you think dignity and respect should look like at Keele?
  • What do you think should be the responsibilities / expectations for the University, managers, and staff / colleagues?

(NB This consultation is open to any member of Keele University staff. All responses are confidential and anonymous)
