History

After gaining my B.A. in History and German at Hamilton College in upstate New York, I moved to Britain to pursue graduate work in History at the London School of Economics (MA) and Oxford (D.Phil.). I taught in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Munich before coming to Keele in September 2005. From 2006 to 2008 I was the recipient of a DFG (German Research Council) personal grant, which enabled me to research and write my most recent monograph, Unmögliche Heimat (Impossible Homeland) for Random House.

Currently I am researching and writing a book on the reception of psychoanalysis in Germany, 1900-1985.
