Health Policy & Leadership at Keele
Health Policy has developed its academic strengths within the context of Keele’s philosophy of interdisciplinary working. We teach about, and study, the four NHSs and health systems of the UK, especially England, Wales and Scotland. The faculty are all specialists in their areas, and work in a flexible and cooperative manner. We have a strong track record in global advisory work eg. for World Health Organization and UK DFID.
Our key areas of current specialism are:
- Health Policy and politics;
- Health systems and reforms in the United Kingdom;
- Health reform internationally;
- Organisational and management studies;
- Partnerships and collaboration;
- Community health.
We are also the editorial home of the International Journal of Health Planning and Management.
Teaching forms an essential part of the Health Policy mission, closely interwoven with research and practical field support activities. The MBA (Health Executive) is in many ways our flagship programme, having been running for around 25 years gaining a national and international reputation for high quality, academic rigour and relevance to todays health service. The evaluation of the MBA (Health Executive) & its sister programme the Diploma (Health Services Management) are consistently high.
We also run an MA (Professional Leadership & Management) which is an advanced programme of learning for professionals, managers and leaders working in public and community services who wish to develop their leadership capacities and strategic orientation
