Students Big Idea
Daniel Jackson (Midlands coordinator) & Liam Joyce from the School of Health and Rehabilitation, Keele University, attended the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) Student Representative’s Development weekend on the 16th & 17th of February.
Each region had to come up with a ‘big idea’ that would either improve physiotherapy education, patient care, CSP student membership or new roles for graduates to go into.
Representing the midlands region, Daniel and Liam presented their idea on improving the student website to better support CSP student Membership.
Prior to the weekend, Daniel and Liam had surveyed students across the region and gathered feedback on possible changes; such as incorporating student networking, giving insight into overseas placements through reports documenting experiences and making information relevant to students more easily accessible.
Daniel and Liam presented their ideas in front of the rest of the delegates and also to a judging panel including the Chair of CSP, with entries marked for their originality and for being realistic and affordable. Judges and the floor where then free to question them on their idea.
The presentation won the event, and Daniel and Liam were commended on their efforts. They were featured in the society’s magazine and their ideas are now being taken forward by the CSP.
