Well done to Abbie Milwain
Abbie, one of our 2nd year Physiotherapy undergraduates, took part in two table tennis tournaments over the summer.
One was individual where she came third and the other was a team tournament.
The individual tournament was the Liverpool Grand Prix playing in the women's band one event on the 17th August coming 2nd in her group, beating three players, including the Irish number 1 (Ashley Givan), and losing one match narrowly 3-2 against the Scottish number 1 (Gillian Edwards).
She then defeated the Welsh number 4 (Megan Phillips) in the quarter-finals 3-1. Abbie lost in the semi-final 3-1 to the eventual winner and Welsh number 3 (Angharad Phillips).
The team tournament was the Women's British League, with Abbie playing for her club Burton Uxbridge TTC (a Premier Division team) from 28th-29th September. Despite being quite ill, Abbie had an outstanding weekend winning 8 out of 10 matches including beating the English women's number 4 (Karina Le Ferve) 3-1 and the number 6 (Emma Vickers) 3-0. She also defaeted Guernsey's number one player Alice Loveridge 3-2.
Her team are currently 3rd in the division after the first weekend playing all the teams again in February.
