Lecturer invited to speak at multi-disciplinary in-service education meeting
The Cannock Rheumatology Team invited Anne O'Brien to speak at their multi-disciplinary in-service education meeting this month.
Anne presented an overview of Rheumatology Physiotherapy over the past two decades entitled "Rheumatology Physiotherapy - where have we been and where are we going?". Consultants, fellow Therapists and Specialist Nurses were in attendance. The hour long presentation emphasising the evidence base behind management options deliberately stimulated much discussion and comment.
In essence Physiotherapy has changed significantly over the past 20 years in this clinical specialty, but its role remains central to the managment of the patient with a focus on improving and maximising quality of life.
