Anne O'Brien (SHAR Senior Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Programmes) was an invited guest speaker at the West Midlands Rheumatology Forum on September 13th 2012.

The theme was "Rheumatology for the advanced age". Anne teamed up with Professor Christian Mallen of Primary Care and Health Sciences Research Institute both presenting "Optimum holistic management for the patient with Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR)". Anne focussed on Physiotherapy assessment and management of the PMR patient and proposed non-pharmacological areas for future research.

The meeting, held in Birmingham, attracted a multi-disciplinary audience of approximately 100 clinicians and was well received.
