CPD News Update
Exercise Prescription Study Day – May 21st 2011
SHAR is very pleased to announce and is eagerly awaiting the study day on Saturday May 21st 2011. Paul Firth, a leading Exercise Physiologist in the region and one of our lecturing team is leading the day on Exercise Prescription… An introduction to and overview of…. In other words…everything you wanted to know! Attendance at the day costs £120. Places are limited so contact Ann Bratt or Martine Iwasko if you want more information – 01782 734191.
University Hospitals of North Staffordshire (UHNS) NHS and SHAR Preceptorship Partnership Programme
At the end of March 2011 SHAR successfully completed a bespoke programme of study for newly qualified Allied Health Professional staff within the UHNS Trust. Sessions were well attended from staff from varying clinical backgrounds. Four themes were covered: Continuing Professional Development, Teaching and Supervision, Communication and Research skills. Evaluations have been very positive.
Post Graduate CPD Modules –
Responding to requests we have recently opened up some post graduate modules to be attended as CPD opportunities. Delegates have the option to undertake the assessment. This has proven especially popular for two neurological modules: Concepts of Neurological Rehabilitation and Assistive Technologies in Neurological Rehabilitation. We look forward to running more CPD modules in our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the forthcoming academic year.
Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust
Over the past 9 months SHAR have been working collaboratively with the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust Therapies Departments. Trust staff had been considering formalising a programme of study to support a new Physical Health Advisor role within mental health. Five modules have been developed collaboratively and subsequently successfully accredited by the University. Funding was provided by the NHS West Midlands Strategic Health Authority. SHAR welcome enquiries relating to other similar potential collaborative projects with NHS partners.
