Becoming an Accredited Clinical Educator (ACE)

Back

The School of Health and Rehabilitation offers three routes by which Clinical Educators may gain Accredited Clinical Educators Status (ACE). These are:

  • The Programme Route: requiring successful completion of a 15 Credit Clinical Education Module assessed by 3 formative practice based reviews and a 3,000 word portfolio. This the most popular route and takes a year to complete.
  • The APCL Route: comprising Accreditation of Prior Credited Learning (APCL) of 15 credits
at either Masters’ level or Level 3. The content of the module to be accredited must relate to educational theory and practice and must reflect the content of the 15 credit Clinical Educators’ Module. This route also requires the Clinical Educator to complete, successfully, three practice based assessments.
  • The Experiential Route: for experience educators only. It comprises submission of a set of six reflective statements regarding aspects of your own professional clinical education practice (3,000 words). Supporting evidence for the statements is required from 2 independent sources.

For further information on becoming an Accredited Clinical Educator please contact the clinical team (contact details can be found on the How to book a place on a Clinical Educators Course page).
