Life Long Learning
Keele University School of Medicine welcomes applications from students of any age. We particularly value applicants with life skills obtained through caring for others in either personal or professional roles. While many mature students will have appropriate academic qualifications, there are alternative routes available for those without a traditional academic background. The health foundation year at Keele is a possible route for students who have qualifications in non-science or vocational subjects, while those without post-16 qualifications may choose to undertake an access to medicine diploma course. Keele currently accepts access diplomas offered by Stafford College, The College of West Anglia, Manchester College and Sussex Downs College.
Returning to full-time study after several years spent working or bringing up a family can be a daunting prospect. We offer opportunities for potential mature students to visit the School of Medicine to find out what medical students do and what the course involves. Please watch the videos of some of our current mature students to hear about their experiences of becoming a medical student and studying at Keele.
The School of Medicine acknowledges the support of the Lifelong Learning Network in producing these videos.
