Graduated Birmingham Medical School in 1988. MA (Medical Ethics) Keele in 1992. PGDipMedEd Dundee 2000, FRCGP 2002, EdD Candidate Institute of Education (MEd Practitioner Research 2011).  Initial training in paediatrics, now a partner in general practice. Immediate past Chair of Midland Faculty RCGP and member of  RCGP National Quality Management of Training Standards Committee

Past projects have included qualitative work looking at factors affecting withholding of consent to enter clinical trials; assessment of teaching styles; supporting learners studying in a second language. Current project uses socio-cultural theory to look at the differential success of BME students in postgraduate assessments.
