About the Foundation

The Yette and Boris Glass Foundation was established in 2005, with the objective of promoting and advancing a better understanding of the integration of psychosocial approaches with new technologies in medicine. The aim is to excite young minds, draw out their full potential and provide opportunities to explore novel ideas. The Foundation provides an annual lecture and an annual competition for awards to undergraduate medical students undertaking intercalated degrees or elective periods in particular areas of study.

Annual competition for awards

Applications are invited from Keele undergraduate medical students for awards of up to £1000 towards an intercalated degree or an elective period abroad.  There are currently two submission dates, in March and August annually.  Please click here for an application form.

Preference will be given to students intending to visit a developing country particularly in Africa, or students wishing to study geriatric medicine or addiction.

Successful applicants for awards are required to to meet with the Trustees prior to undertaking their intercalated degree or travel abroad, submit a report on their intercalated or elective period (this report will be published on our Website), and to give a short presentation about their experiences, on the occasion of the next Annual Glass Foundation lecture.

The Foundation Trustees meet at least twice per year, and will consider all applications for awards.  The Trustees consist of two nominees of the family, plus representatives of the School of Medicine senior management.  The Trustees' decision is final.
