The Careers Day is for pupils from years 10–12 who would like to find out more about a career in medicine. The cost is £25 per pupil, including packed lunch, refreshments and conference materials. All bookings must be on the booking form, schools may bring a maximum of 12 pupils. The booking form and programme are available to download below.
There are 250 places available and as this is a very popular event early booking is essential.
Feedback from last year’s event excellent, with many pupils commenting that it really helped them decide whether or not they wanted to be a doctor!
Note: This careers day is specifically for people interested in training to become a doctor. Unfortunately, time constraints on the day mean that we cannot include information about careers in other areas of healthcare.

Royal Society Medicine Careers Day - Wednesday 14th March 2012
Keele University School of Medicine, in association with the Royal Society of Medicine, hosted its tenth "So You Want To Be A Doctor?" careers day at Keele on 14th March 2012.
The event attracted nearly 240 school pupils aged between 14-17 from local schools as well as schools in the North West, Midlands and Wales.
In the morning delegates heard a range of talks including sessions on why to choose a medical career, how to choose a medical school, qualifications required and career pathways within medicine. Two Keele graduates shared their experiences of life as a medical student and as a junior doctor. Accompanying teachers were able to find out more about what universities look for in their applications as well as enjoy an informative tour of campus by student ambassadors.
After lunch pupils and teachers rotated through a series of workshops, including practical sessions looking at lung function and blood pressure as well as being able to ask questions about admissions and talk to current practising doctors.
The careers day was well received by students and teachers.
“It was very informative and clear. I feel more confident that medicine is a good career for me”.
“Extremely useful, very enjoyable, wish I could have stayed longer.”
“Everyone was very helpful.”
The event was covered by both Radio Stoke and the Sentinel Newspaper.
