This is a practice-based learning module which is undertaken during specialist community public health practice. Students will have the opportunity to learn, work towards and achieve the given proficiencies whilst reflecting on their continuing professional development achievements and needs.
It aims to create and provide learning that is responsive, flexible and relevant to current public health and social needs in community settings, working with communities, families and individuals.
The module will be delivered using a blended learning approach, and will require the practitioner to achieve clinical proficiency. This will enable the practitioner to consolidate and further progress their knowledge and skills and will encourage practitioners to deliver an evidence-based service.
This module is available as a compulsory core within PGDip/MSc Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (All Routes).
Through reflective analysis and evaluation of learning throughout the programme, the student will demonstrate the achievement of proficiencies as a specialist community public health nurse.
It aims to enhance the practitioners knowledge and skills to enable them to utilise evidenced based practice in order to influence and improve standards of care and service delivery
For Students undertaking PGDip/MSc Specialist Community Public Health Nursing this module is a compulsory core.
Undertake health assessment & identification of needs; clients, families, groups.
Set, implement and evaluate standards and criteria of nursing interventions.
Manage critical and clinical events to ensure safe and effective care.
Develop and sustain relationships with groups and individuals with the aim of health improvement and social well-being.
Work in partnership with others to prevent need and risk to health and well-being.
Make use of counselling, support, and related therapeutic techniques.
Raise awareness about the actions that individuals and groups can take to improve health and social well-being.
Demonstrate skills of leadership, people and resource management.
Implement and monitor of relevant standards for delivery of services.
Implement and evaluate evidence based initiatives.
Demonstrate capacity for problem solving and decision making.
Apply strategies for prevention, identification and intervention for abuse/violence.
Practice communication, negotiation and person-effectiveness skills in a multi-disciplinary environment.

| Detailed Description of Assessment: | The reflective portfolio will demonstrate through assessment of performance in practice, alongside relevant supporting evidence, the student's achievement of the given standards of proficiency for the relevant pathway of the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing programme.
