This module is for students who have already had Acupuncture training and wish to consolidate this and gain masters level credits

Aims and requirements
This method of accreditation is aimed at experienced physiotherapists and other professionals who have attended Foundation in Acupuncture courses, either by Acupuncture Training Associates (ATA), Acupuncture Training Solutions (ATS) or any other provider offering courses approved by the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP).
It is expected that students will have taken the opportunity to consolidate their studies by reading around, clinical practice and ongoing continuing professional education.
The process is an opportunity to allow students to demonstrate their experiential learning and present their evidence for accreditation.

Guidelines

Applicants considering applying must have attended/undertaken one of the following: 

- Within five years prior to the submission date of the portfolio for the APEL credits,  you should have attended Basic Acupuncture Course (Approved by the AACP or equivalent)    

or
- Completed a Basic Acupuncture Course within the last 10 years and can provide evidence of relevant CPD. The CPD must have been undertaken in the last 5 years.

  • Students are required to attend the structured practical exam (this is to required to satisfy safety issues)

 and

  • Students are required to submit of a portfolio consisting of 4 main sections

Section 1 General Supporting Material - In this section the student will present justification for their accreditation of the credits

Section 2 Five Case Histories – In this section the student will demonstrate their clinical experience obtained and clinical reasoning processes developed within the three-year time frame

Section 3 Evidence Based Practice - In this section the student will present one or two issues, taken from the above case histories, and present an in-depth discussion around the topic area. The student will use empirical evidence to underpin the discussion. This piece of work should be no longer than 2,500 words

Section 4 Presentation of the Evidence – In this section the student is expected to demonstrate how each of the Course learning outcomes has been achieved. This will include a reflection on the structured practical exam
