This 30 credit Level 4 module critically examines the elements necessary to promote effective assessment, support and the delivery of optimum end of life care. The recent End of Life Strategy (DH 2008) recognises the need for all people at the end of life to have their needs and preferences skilfully assessed and incorporated into a plan of care that is subject to regular review by the multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication and assessment skills are required by staff to enable them to sensitively undertake such care planning, to provide appropriate support and to effectively coordinate care within the team. This module will be delivered utilising a blended learning approach.

This module is available as a compulsory core within Postgraduate Certificate in End of Life Care.
