Using Skype on HallsNet

As a student living in Halls of Residence you may wish to use Skype on your computer to keep in contact with friends and relatives back home. You will be please to know that the University have now changed the Conditions of Use which means that Skype can now be used on your computer when connected to HallsNet.

Please be aware that when you are using Skype software you will be using up your daily network quota at approximately 120 Mb per hour for voice conversations and approximately 200 Mb per hour for video conversations.

Skype software is peer to peer software, and even though this is allowed it does not mean that you are permitted to use other forms of file sharing or peer to peer software on the network (see IT Conditions of Use ).
