Rules and Regulations

HallsNet is part of an academic network which is provided to support your academic work. Personal usage is allowed but the following services are not:-

  • Peer-to-peer (P2P) files sharing software or technology, although Skype is permitted. This includes software such as Bit Torrent, e-Donkey, Limewire.
  • FTP (although passive ftp is permitted)
  • Online Gaming - Xbox is now working and we are currently working on how to configure your  PS3 and Wii to the Keele Network, please check again soon

You are bound by the IT Conditions of Use, please ensure that you make yourself familiar with these.

HallsNet will, at times, communicate with you using your Keele email address, it is therefore important that you read your Keele email regularly.

IT Service will disconnect your HallsNet connection, on the following occasions:-

  • A copyright infringement notice has been received due to sharing or downloading copyrighted material
  • Your computer has a virus which is affecting the network
  • You have contravened the IT Conditions of Use
