Plans, Policy and Vision

vision Our vision:

Developing a University that is environmentally aware, and has a sustainable outward-facing campus community, is one of Keele University’s core strategic aims and is at the heart of our Strategic Plan.

Keele University aims to be one of the top 10 ‘sustainable’ university campuses by 2015, with a strong commitment to sustainability across all activities on the campus, and several areas in which Keele is outstanding.

Strategic Objectives:

  • To demonstrate environmental sustainability through innovation, good practice and ethical choices in all our activities
  • To unlock the potential of the University Estate so that it underpins the attainment of our vision
  • To share and provide the University’s expertise in environment and sustainability to local, regional, national and international communities and partners

These web-pages enable you to explore what the University is already doing to put existing policies into action, and to read more about our future plans.

In 2011 we published our first Sustainability Report which covered progress made in the academic year 2010/11 (download the 2011 Sustainability Report here) You can download the 2012 Sustainability Report here.

We are delighted to have Jonathon Porritt as our new Chancellor.  As a well-known supporter and advocate of environmentally friendly initiatives and with his passion for sustainability he is a fantastic advocate for our strategic aims and objectives.
