Case Studies
Postgraduate students on the MSc in Environmental Sustainability and Green Technology have been working with UK organisations on issues related to technology and sustainability as part of their course. Projects have ranged from working with local authorities to map and understand public perception and behaviour to testing the efficiency of new technologies, such as catalytic paints.
The McCamley Turbine
MSc and MBA students at Keele have been working on the design of the prototype vertical axis turbine at the Sustainability Hub. One project carried out by Megan Barker looked at the vibration of the turbine using geophysical monitoring techniques. A further project carried out by Sarah Smith looked at the possibilities and feasibility of combining and integrating the wind turbine equipment with other renewable energy technologies for novel urban wind energy generation.
The collaboration with Keele University has been recognised with a nomination to the Environmental Sustainability Category of the prestigious Lord Stafford Awards.
“Being heralded as an organisation committed to innovation and an active collaborator with the region's Universities speaks volumes about you, your business, and your products and services.”
