Regulations

Just like other degrees at Keele, Postgraduate Research Degrees are subject to University Act, Charter, Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations. Please consult the main Keele University Regulations website  for the most up to date versions.

The Code of Practice on Postgraduate Research Degrees

The Code of Practice on Postgraduate Research Degrees (COP) supplements the formal University regulations by providing detailed guidance on a variety of issues relevant to Postgraduate Research students.

All Research Institutes, research students and staff who are associated with Keele’s research degree programmes are required to understand and comply with the Code of Practice.

Accessing the COP

The complete, revised Code of Practice on Postgraduate Research Degrees (June 2013)‌ approved by Senate on 6 March 2013 as a PDF file.

If you do not want to download the COP as a single file, please see the following pages "COP screen view version" where the COP can be read online and downloaded in smaller sections respectively.

History

The COP was first introduced in August 2002 and was substantially revised in August 2005 to take account of new Keele structures (Graduate School and Research Institutes). It has undergone further modifications since then, taking into account revised guidance from the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). The latest iteration of the Code of Practice has been updated to take into account guidance contained in the UK Quality Code for Higher Education.
