Professor Peter Styles of the School of Physical and Geographical Science and EPSAM has been appointed President of the International Commission on Hydrocarbon Exploration and Seismicity in the Emilia region by the Italian Government and chaired the inaugural meeting on June 19th in Rome.

Sam Toon took part in the CTBTO OSI Build Up Exercise 3 in Veszprem, Hungary from May 25th to June 7th 2013. The was the final exercise in the preparations for the Integrated Field Exercise that will take place in Jordan in 2014.

Professor Peter Styles has been the guest of the British Ambassador to Ukraine, Mr Simon Smith, as part of a UKTI initiative and the Director of the British Council in Ukraine, Mr Martin Dowie. Together with Dr Nick Riley, MBE, of the British Geological Survey, Professor Styles has been speaking at a series of seminars aimed at increasing public understanding of unconventional gas.
