Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question which is not answered here then please contact us and we will do our best to answer it.

How can I get a copy of the Futureproof CD-ROM?
State schools in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire are entitled to up to 2 free copies of the CD-ROM and 1 copy of the teacher's pack. All state schools in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire will be sent a free copy of the CD and pack during February 2005.

Schools outside Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire are able to purchase the software for a very reasonable price. Please contact us for details.

Is Futureproof available in areas other than Staffordshire?
Currently, Futureproof is only available in the county of Staffordshire. However, it may eventually become available elsewhere under a scheme which allows HEIs in other regions to use the product under licence - please contact us for details of the licensing agreement.

How was development of Futureproof funded?
Futureproof is part of a package of new media products being developed under a project called HE Full Circle. The project aims to get more local people into higher education and to create more graduate opportunities in the county. It is funded by Advantage West Midlands.

How do I use Futureproof in school?
Futureproof has been designed to work over a network, so to use the program you need to install it first. The package was designed for use in PSHE lessons, as its content fits in with national curriculum guidelines for that subject. The teachers' pack contains lots of suggestions about how to build the resource into your school curriculum and also contains lesson plans to assist with delivery.

Is it just a promotional tool for Keele?
No, Futureproof is a general package of information about higher education. As the package was developed by Keele some of the footage uses Keele locations or students, but there is no attempt to 'sell' Keele to your pupils. The aim of this resource is purely to promote the benefits of higher education and help young people to understand what going to university might be like.
