Energy Plans for a 21st Century Campus
Keele University is exploring a range of exciting options for alternative energy sources and energy management.
Directly related to our teaching and research expertise these technologies would contribute to an innovative research hub for the study and development of sustainable forms of energy.
The University has a strong track record in reducing carbon emissions. We have recently been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard for consistent energy savings year on year.
With our research expertise on sources of renewable energy, the University is uniquely placed to act as a 'land-lab' to explore, test and develop sustainable energy resources.
Our vision is to generate as much of our energy needs on campus as possible, with the aim of halving our dependence on external energy sources. We aim to become 'carbon-neutral' in our energy production and consumption within ten years.
To achieve this we are exploring sources of sustainable energy on campus with possible involvement from external partners.
Nexen Exploration UK and Partnership for Renewables may be working with the University on the development of sustainable energy sources on campus.
