Green Week 2012

Green Week aims to raise awareness of environmental and sustainability issues at Keele and in the world around us. We have a week of fun filled activities and events lined up for you this year. Whole Earth Exhibition

The award winning 'Hard Rain' exhibition is back with its new installment 'Whole Earth', being displayed for the first time in the UK at Keele during Green Week! Official opening with Mark Edwards and Jonathon Porritt on Thursday 9th February. Click here for more info.

Green Week Fancy Dress Party - "Anything but Clothes: Recycle!!"

Thursday 9th February @ The Pig and Rat, Barnes Halls, Keele Campus.

If you fancy joining the green army for some fun and frivolities and helping to spread the green message to your fellow students, please get your creative hats on and come up with the most inspired "ANYTHING BUT CLOTHES: RECYCLE!!" outfit you can imagine.. DOWNLOAD EVENT POSTER HERE!

Green Week Art and Photography Competition

All entries will be displayed on the main Green Week info stand in the Chancellors Foyer during Green Week. Winning piece of art and photography will win £20 waterstone’s vouchers each and will be published in Concourse magazine! If you want to help raise 'green' awareness and fancy getting arty for a good cause, please produce a piece of artwork or photography along one of the following themes:

  • Save the Planet!
  • The Three Pillars of Sustainable Development
  • A 'Green' Campus at Keele

All entries should be submitted to room F27B William Smith Building by 5.00pm on Wednesday 8th February. Photographs/art work may be up to A3 in size. You may back your works on mount board/card but please do not frame pictures in wood/glass frames. You will be able to give your work a title/blurb when you submit (if you wish).

After the competition we would be very grateful if you would allow your art pieces to be displayed in the Sustainable Student House (SSH) on campus (for more info on the SSH visit: www.keele.ac.uk/livegreenkeele) - but this is not compulsory. The competition will be judged by several members of environmental staff at Keele University, including the universities Environmental Manager. 1st prize is a mountain bike and 5 runners up will recieve a thermal mug with the Keele University logo! The competition will close monday 13th of February at 5pm. Good Luck!
