Studies of stellar variability using SuperWASP
Lead supervisor: Dr Barry Smalley
The hugely-successful ground-based SuperWASP planet finding project has accumulated observations of the brightness over 50 million stars of the period of several years. This project will exploit this resource by pursuing studies of various types of variable stars, including slowly-varying high-amplitude variations to high-frequency low-amplitude stellar oscillations. The project will push the limits of detectability down to milli-magnitude amplitudes and then explore the fullest possible range frequencies detectable in the SuperWASP light curves.
